Deck Building and Repair
Our decks can transform your backyard into a beautiful retreat, but if not properly maintained, they can quickly become a dangerous eyesore. During my time in the handyman business, I noticed that many homeowners attempt to build their own decks. While this can save money upfront, the quality of these DIY projects often varies widely—and more often than not, they fall well below code standards. These decks might hold up for a few years, but they begin to deteriorate quickly.
I pay close attention to building codes and always prefer to acquire permits for everything. This not only ensures you receive a high-quality product that will stand the test of time but also provides peace of mind for any future homeowners.
Let’s get started on creating a deck that’s safe, durable, and beautiful!
Raised Deck Rehab
This deck had seen better days. While the deck platform still has plenty of life, the stairs and railings were past the days of being trustworthy. I replaced one rotting post, moved the stairs out from under the window for security, installed a vinyl railing and vinyl privacy screen, and finished it off with a fresh coat of solid stain. All work was permitted and inspected. This deck will be here for a long time.

Deck Board and Rail Top Refresh
This project was a quick one but will reset the clock on this outdoor living space. As part of the refresh, we eliminated the built-in seating to allow more room for entertaining.

Construction Steps Upgraded to Composite with Vinyl Railing
Not the best pictures here, but the project was fun and will give the homeowner minimal maintenance steps that will least a lifetime.

New Composite Skin
Homeowner was sick of the yearly restraining of the decking. They chose to keep the wooden railings to keep the price down. The picture framing and diagonal cuts made this one a little more challenging and rewarding when done.
